About The Christmas Company at Burford...... Opening in December 2003, I chose
Burford in the heart of the picturesque Cotswolds as our base and
first Christmas Shop. Burford is a thriving old wool town set in
the hills of the Windrush Valley and one of the most popular UK
tourist sites. In 1988 on my travels I came across a Missionary group that had been in Thailand for 20 years, and had recently set up a cottage industry to try and help women work at home to supplement their incomes. The women in the remote regions of Thailand wanted to work but the only work available was in the factories, which were miles away from their homes. Making decorations enables the women to stay at home and look after their children.

The decorations from India are all handmade by men. This zari work is a traditional craft in India and it is a skill that usually only men are taught. All the decorations are unique, beautifullly designed products.
